City Kids on the Anacostia!

City Kids spends a lot of time learning about the environment, including our rivers. We took a two hour boat ride on the Anacostia so that the kids could learn about water pollution and clean up, local wildlife, and city conservation efforts. Young kids are natural environmentalists--they tend to care about animals' habitats, for example, and they have a hard time understanding why grownups would pollute the environment when we can do better. If we educate our kids when they are young, they will grow up with the mindset that protecting the environment is a welcome responsibility. Also, it was a beautiful, sunny day, and the kids loved the ride!
