Local, Urban Food Gardening.

As part of our Natural Sciences Program, City Kids is visiting local, urban farms. Urban gardening has been on the rise, and learning about urban farming is an important part of understanding how cities function in different and unexpected ways. Also, and importantly, exposing kids to urban farming allows them to envision cities in a radical new way--city planning takes on a while new meaning when you are planning for the challenges of agriculture and not just residential and commercial concerns. And getting to eat foods picked from the vine is not bad either!

Picking corn kernels to pop!

Our kids were so excited! It was if they had never had popcorn--the magic of farms!
