Today, one of our kids learned to ride a bike for the first time! Learning to ride a bike is a special time for a child; they feel a newfound sense of freedom and independence, navigating the world as they balance and pedal as fast as their legs can take them. Week 34: Lemurs, Beetle Mounting, Portraiture Workshop, Capoeira, Cheltenham Wetlands, and our Garde
This week our kids learned all about Lemurs! As part of our review for world Cultures & Geography, one of our parents taught the kids about how beetles are used for ornamentation in different cultures across the world. Following, every child got their own beetle to mount. City Kids had a special guest this week, a local artist who did a portraiture workshop with the kids. Week 33: Whales, Turtles, Capoeira, Brownies, our Garden, and Maryland Science Center!
Continuing with our unit on Oceans, our kids learned all about whales this week! They also learned about Turtles! Capoeira! Celebrating one of our special kiddo's birthday with homemade brownies! Our field trip this week was to the Maryland Science Center to watch "Humpback Whales," a new documentary about these most amazing creatures and why we should be working to save them. After the movie, the kids enjoyed the science center--so much to do! Enjoying the Hurricane Tunnel!


Week 32: Large Groups in the Animal Kingdom, Oceans, Claude Moore Colonial Farm, and the Hirshorn!
Flocks, Schools, and Colonies in the animal kingdom. The kids continued with their Oceans of the World Unit. This week they reviewed Pangea, continental drift, and the water cycle.
